Getting Started with Pubdate
Welcome to Pubdate. This guide walks you through your first week so you know exactly what to expect.
What Happens After You Sign Up
Once you've signed up, you'll get a WhatsApp message from us confirming your account is active and explaining how everything works. You don't need to do anything technical — there's no app to download, no dashboard to log into unless you want to.
Your Weekly Check-In
Every Monday morning you'll get a WhatsApp from Pubdate asking what's on this week. This is your weekly check-in.
You reply with whatever you want to promote:
- Events — live music, quiz nights, match screenings, comedy nights
- Specials — food deals, happy hours, seasonal offers
- Hours changes — Bank holidays, Christmas, early closing
- General updates — New menu, refurb, new staff
You can send one thing or ten things. A bullet list or a paragraph. However it comes out of your head is fine — we'll sort it.
What We Do With Your Message
After you reply, we:
- Parse what you've told us into structured events and updates
- Create social media graphics and captions for each item
- Draft Google Business updates where relevant
- Send you a preview message — a WhatsApp showing exactly what we're planning to post
Approving Your Content
The preview message will show each post, when it's scheduled, and what it says. You have three options:
- Reply "yes" (or any positive response) — we schedule everything as shown
- Reply with changes — "change the time on the music post to 9:30" — we update and re-send
- Reply "no" or "skip" — we cancel that post
Once you approve, posts go out automatically at the scheduled times. You don't need to do anything else.
Tips for Your First Week
- Be specific about dates and times. "Live music Friday at 9pm" is better than "live music this week."
- Include ticket prices or "free entry" if relevant — we'll add it to the post.
- You can message us at any time, not just on Mondays. If you have something urgent ("post this today about our happy hour"), just message and we'll handle it.
